The Horse Head Nebula is one of the most famous and photographed nebulae in the night sky. It's not only easy to locate at the easternmost star of Orion's belt, but its dark backlit structure makes for one of the most beautiful objects in our galaxy.
I put a lot of time into the Horse Head Nebula each winter, and I typically use it as a measuring stick for how much progress I've made in my abilities since the year before. Below is the first image I ever shot of the Horse Head Nebula.
