This is the highest resolution image on this store. It is also the only nebula image that was taken with an off-the-shelf Fujifilm camera with no cooling.
Rho Ophiuchi is one of the most colorful areas in the entire night sky. Instead of using my remote robotic observatories, my goal with this image was to get out under the stars and sit with a small telescope while it ran to watch the photos come in.
Of all of the images available in this store, this one was taken with the most hands-on, eyes on the dark skies approach, and I still get chills thinking about those beautiful colors showing up for the first time on the back of my camera in the middle of the California desert.
